Postdoctoral Researcher at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, Hong Kong
Dr. Kindness Uyanga is a highly accomplished researcher and educator in energy, environment, and advanced materials, holding a Ph.D. in Energy and Environment from City University of Hong Kong with a thesis focused on sustainable hydrogels with enhanced hydrolytic and thermal stability under the supervision of Prof. Walid A. Daoud. She earned her M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Benin, Nigeria where she worked on the production and characterization of organic solar cells, and a B.Eng. (Hons.) in Chemical Engineering from Modibbo Adama University of Technology, developing erasable whiteboard marker inks. Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Hong Kong Metropolitan University, she develops smart polymer-based materials for energy and environmental applications, contributes to grant writing, mentors students and research assistants, and publishes in Q1 journals, including serving as first and corresponding author. Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Researcher at City University of Hong Kong, where she led the Smart Textile Unit, managed industry-funded projects exceeding HKD 2.5 million, developed cooling textiles, filed a U.S. patent, and published multiple high-impact journal articles. Her earlier roles include Research Assistant and PhD Student at City University of Hong Kong, where she managed large-scale smart textile projects, taught and assisted in several postgraduate and undergraduate courses, developed SOPs, and published extensively as first author. Dr. Uyanga has significant teaching experience as a Lecturer and Graduate Assistant at Modibbo Adama University of Technology and as a Teaching Assistant at the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, delivering lectures, supervising laboratories, and mentoring hundreds of students. Her research interests span sustainable polymer-based composite microstructures, functional coatings, advanced materials, smart wearables, and energy–environment applications. She has successfully mentored students who progressed to Ph.D. and professional roles in Hong Kong, the UK, and Nigeria. Her excellence has been recognized through multiple awards, including a Research Tuition Scholarship at City University of Hong Kong, best presentation awards at international conferences, and top graduating student honors at undergraduate level. She also holds professional certifications in MATLAB programming, reflective teaching, lecturing, facilitating discussions, and intellectual property protection, reflecting her strong commitment to interdisciplinary research, teaching excellence, and innovation.
