Prof. Innocent Mutabazi is an Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Le Havre, with an academic career spanning over four decades in physical hydrodynamics, specializing in hydrodynamic instabilities, spatio-temporal chaos, rotating and stratified flows, transition to turbulence in viscoelastic liquids, and convective heat transfer in complex systems. He earned his Ph.D. and HdR from Université Paris 7 and Université Le Havre, following advanced training in theoretical physics at Moscow University, and has held academic and research positions at PMMH–ESPCI Paris, CEA Saclay, and Ohio State University. He has supervised 22 completed Ph.D. theses and mentored numerous postdoctoral researchers, many of whom now hold permanent academic positions worldwide. Prof. Mutabazi has secured over €5 million in competitive research funding from national, European, and international agencies and has led major laboratories and international research networks, including serving as Director of LOMC (CNRS) and LIA ISTROF. His leadership roles include Interim President of Normandie Université, Vice-President for Research at the University of Le Havre, and senior advisory positions for the French Ministry of Higher Education and Research. He has contributed extensively to national and international scientific governance through expert committees, conference leadership, and professional service, reflecting a distinguished career in research, teaching, and academic administration.
