Dr. Ghulam Zakir Hassan has over three decades of professional experience in water resources engineering, specializing in integrated water resources management, sustainable groundwater development, and climate change adaptation. His expertise covers managed aquifer recharge, rainwater harvesting, groundwater modelling, aquifer characterization, and surface water–groundwater interaction studies. He has extensive hands-on experience in canal lining, seepage analysis, drainage, waterlogging and salinity control, flood mitigation, and hill torrent management. His work also includes groundwater quality assessment, irrigation suitability, sediment transport analysis, and geotechnical and subsurface investigations. He has contributed significantly to water policy analysis, institutional governance, and project planning, implementation, monitoring, and quality control. In addition, he is actively engaged in capacity building, stakeholder engagement, inter-agency coordination, and technical training to support sustainable and resilient water management systems.
