Prof. Dr. Pierre Boulanger is Professor Emeritus at the University of Alberta with joint appointments in Computing Science and Radiology, bringing over 42 years of impact across academia, government research, and industry. His career includes 18 years at the National Research Council of Canada and 24 years at the university, where he directed the Advanced Human Computer Interface Laboratory and held the CISCO Chair in Healthcare Solutions. He currently serves as Scientific Director of the SERVIER Virtual Cardiac Centre and CTO of RoboSonica Inc., leading innovations in robotic-assisted echocardiography and telehealth systems. His research expertise spans quantum image processing, geometry-aware neural networks, medical AI, 3D computer vision, and virtual/augmented reality, with a strong focus on patient-specific medical imaging. Prof. Boulanger has authored over 425 scientific publications, holds 10 US patents, and has led major funded projects supported by CIHR, FRQNT, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Alberta Innovates, and CISCO. Since retiring in January 2025, he continues active research in quantum manifold-based processing and advanced medical AI, while contributing extensively as an editor, reviewer, and international collaborator.
