Dr. Federica Tonon | Oncology and Molecular Biology | Research Excellence Award

Researcher in University of Trieste, Italy

Dr. Federica Tonon is a biomedical researcher specializing in molecular biology, clinical research, and translational medicine. She earned her Ph.D. in Chemical and Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Trieste, where her research focused on exploring drug molecular effects in cancer models. Her scientific expertise spans cell and molecular biology techniques, including stem cell differentiation, gene expression analysis, and protein interaction studies. She has extensive experience working with advanced experimental models such as zebrafish and murine systems to investigate cancer progression, angiogenesis, and rare diseases like Lesch–Nyhan syndrome. Dr. Tonon has contributed significantly to research on the Renin–Angiotensin system, particularly in pregnancy and metabolic conditions, as well as the development of innovative microfluidic platforms for hepatic cell differentiation. In addition to her laboratory research, she is highly skilled in clinical data management, including the design and management of electronic case report forms (eCRFs) in compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and GDPR standards. Currently serving as a Data Manager in a Breast Unit, she integrates clinical and experimental data to support oncology research. She has presented her work at numerous international conferences, received awards for scientific contributions, and actively contributes as a Guest Editor in peer-reviewed journals.
