Dr. Ivana Vecurkovska is a biomedical researcher specializing in clinical biochemistry, oncology diagnostics, and translational cancer research, currently working as a young talented researcher at Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice and as a researcher at the University of Presov. She earned her PhD in Clinical Biochemistry with a dissertation on the diagnostic potential of the TGF-β/SMAD signaling pathway in colorectal cancer, following RNDr., Master’s, and Bachelor’s degrees in zoology and animal physiology from the same university. Her research expertise includes work with clinical samples, proteomic and genomic techniques (zymography, SDS-PAGE, Western blot, PCR, immunohistochemistry), advanced data analysis, and participation in national and international research projects. Dr. Vecurkovska is actively involved in university teaching across medicine and health care programs, supervising master’s theses, examining students, and contributing to science outreach and popularization initiatives. She has presented her work widely at major international conferences across Europe and completed international mobility programs in Greece and Spain. Her achievements have been recognized with multiple awards, including the Rector’s Award of UPJŠ (2024), best presentation and poster awards in oncology research, and several academic excellence honors.
