Prof. Chun Dong is a distinguished Research Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Chinese Academy of Surveying and Mapping, holding a Ph.D. in Population, Resources and Environmental Economics. With over two decades of experience, she leads the Natural Resources Survey and Monitoring Research Center and has played key roles in major national initiatives, including the First National Geographical Conditions Census and the development of natural resource asset auditing platforms. Her work integrates geospatial technology with resource economics, pioneering statistical models for natural resource monitoring, natural capital accounting, and population spatialization. She has led more than 40 national and ministerial research projects, contributed extensively to national geographical monitoring, and advanced large-scale spatial statistical modeling. Prof. Dong has published over 100 academic papers, authored ten books, and developed multiple national information systems for government ministries. Her innovations include platforms such as NaturalSAE and NaturalAAE, widely applied in ecological civilization construction and resource governance. She holds more than ten authorized national patents and has received 18 major scientific awards, including the National Science and Technology Progress Award. Her research has significantly influenced China’s spatial planning, resource accounting, and geospatial data evaluation. Widely recognized as a high-level leading scientific talent by the Ministry of Natural Resources, she is also a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance and the National March 8th Red-Banner Pacesetter honor. She actively collaborates with leading institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Fudan University, and Wuhan University, promoting interdisciplinary innovation in natural resources. Prof. Dong serves in multiple national professional committees, contributing to natural resources monitoring, high-tech application in forestry and grassland, and geographical information analysis. Her lifelong commitment to advancing geospatial science continues to drive national progress in sustainable development, ecological monitoring, and resource management.
