Prof. Dario Giorgio Pezzini is a professor of political science with a multidisciplinary background in logic, law, social sciences, and political science. He has extensive expertise in beach safety, lifesaving, and swimming instruction, having served as president of the “Mare sicuro” cooperative of lifeguards, lifeguard assistants, and swimming instructors, and as swimming pool manager and administrator. He organizes and manages collective rescue plans on numerous beaches and has been the National Technical Director of the National Lifesaving Society, preparing rescue strategies for municipalities throughout Italy. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Research Group for the Coastal Environment and serves as a technician for the Italian Swimming Federation. Prof. Pezzini has authored and edited numerous publications on lifesaving, swimming instruction, beach safety, drowning prevention, and political theory, including manuals, educational books, coastal management studies, and ISTISAN reports in collaboration with national health and research institutions. His research contributions focus on the study of accidents in seaside environments, development of drowning prevention strategies, and improvement of collective safety protocols. He has played a pivotal role in establishing national observatories and coordinating technical committees for swimming, environment, and accident prevention. Dr. Ahmad Hazim Abdul Aziz is a lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, specializing in green extraction technologies with a strong background in Chemical Engineering. His work focuses on supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, subcritical water extraction, optimization, and mathematical modelling for high-value natural products. He has published extensively, including 18 articles in 2024, contributing to a total of 64 indexed documents with 728 citations from 514 citing sources and an h-index of 17. Dr. Ahmad Hazim leads several competitive research grants involving process optimization, modelling, and product development, and actively participates in innovation and invention competitions where he transforms scientific findings into functional prototypes and value-added solutions. His research integrates engineering principles with food science to advance sustainable product development in the food and natural products industries. He holds two editorial appointments, maintains two active research collaborations, and is a member of two professional bodies as a Professional Technologist and Graduate Engineer. His contributions strengthen Malaysia’s capacity for sustainable extraction technologies and support industry-driven innovation aligned with national and global sustainability objectives.
