Prof. Marcella Reale | Università “G.d’Annunzio” CHieti-Pescara | Italy
Prof. Marcella Reale is an eminent Italian scientist and Associate Professor of General Pathology at the University “G. d’Annunzio” of Chieti-Pescara, with a Ph.D. in Experimental Medicine from the University “La Sapienza” of Rome and a Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Bologna. Her distinguished academic career spans research, teaching, and scientific leadership in the fields of immunology, inflammation, and neurodegenerative diseases. Since joining the Faculty of Medicine at “G. d’Annunzio,” she has held numerous institutional roles, including membership in didactic and evaluation commissions, coordination of laboratory programs, and supervision of Ph.D. students in Biomolecular and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Prof. Reale’s research focuses on elucidating molecular and cellular mechanisms of inflammation, the immune response, and their pharmacological regulation, particularly in neurological and systemic diseases. Her studies have examined cytokine production, neuroinflammation, and cholinergic modulation in disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and traumatic brain injury. She has also collaborated extensively with international research groups, notably with the National Institute on Aging (NIH, USA), King Abdulaziz University (Saudi Arabia), and University Medicine Berlin, resulting in numerous influential publications. Prof. Reale has authored and co-authored over 245 scientific documents indexed in Scopus, which have collectively received more than 7,410 citations across 6,148 citing documents, achieving an h-index of 46, reflecting her sustained global research impact. She serves on editorial boards of several leading journals, including Frontiers in Immunology, Frontiers in Neurology, and International Journal of Molecular Sciences, and is Editor-in-Chief of AIMS Allergy and Immunology. Her leadership as guest editor for multiple special issues and reviewer for over 70 international journals underscores her reputation as a leading figure in immunopathology and translational medicine. Through her work, Prof. Reale continues to advance knowledge on the interplay between the immune system, inflammation, and neurodegeneration, shaping innovative therapeutic strategies and contributing profoundly to biomedical research.
