Prof. Dr. Daniel Valero has held several significant academic and research positions, including serving as a Professor at Universidad Miguel Hernández, after earlier roles as a contracted researcher and both postdoctoral and predoctoral fellow at CEBAS-CSIC and University of Bristol. He completed his higher education and doctorate in Pharmacy at Universidad de Granada, building a strong academic foundation. Throughout his career, he has supervised numerous high-quality undergraduate and doctoral research projects, many achieving top honors such as “Sobresaliente Cum Laude” and “Matrícula de Honor,” reflecting his excellence in mentorship. His research expertise is centered on postharvest technology, fruit quality preservation, and the use of bioactive and natural compounds to enhance shelf life and nutritional value. He has actively contributed to multiple competitive R&D projects, including national and international collaborations focused on sustainable agricultural practices, innovative pre- and postharvest treatments, and eco-friendly strategies to improve fruit quality. His work also involves the utilization of agro-industrial residues, optimization of irrigation and fertilization, and development of natural treatments to mitigate biotic stress in crops. As a project leader and collaborator, he has contributed to multidisciplinary teams, securing significant funding and advancing applied research in agro-food technology. Additionally, his involvement in scientific congresses and research initiatives highlights his continued commitment to innovation and knowledge dissemination in agricultural and food sciences.
