Prof. Dr.-Ing. João Bordado is Full Professor of Chemical Engineering and President of the Scientific Council of C5Lab, with a distinguished career spanning academia and industry. Holding an MSc in Chemistry of Catalytic Processes and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, he was the first Portuguese scientist honored with EURCHEM. After a postdoctoral fellowship in Chemical Organic Synthesis and several years teaching Organic Reaction Mechanisms, he joined Quimigal as Process Engineer, later moving to Hoechst Portugal where he advanced to Research Director and President of Hoechst Ambiente, gaining 25 years of industrial experience. He has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications and holds 81 patents, most of which have been implemented as industrial processes, demonstrating his commitment to innovation with direct industrial impact. Over the past two decades, his research has focused on projects developed in close collaboration with industrial partners, operating within TRL3–8, and contributing significantly to applied chemical engineering. He has also served as Scientific Coordinator of major European projects including NewAdhesives, Intelpol, Wadisun, Multifat, BioProduction, and Foul-X-Spel, advancing sustainable materials, industrial chemistry, and technology transfer. Through his leadership, Prof. Bordado has built a career that integrates academic excellence with industrial practice, shaping innovative solutions to global challenges in chemical engineering while mentoring future generations of engineers and scientists.

Dr. Murugendrappa M V is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru. He earned his Bachelor’s degree with distinction in 1996 from Gulbarga University, securing the highest marks in the entire college. He went on to complete his Master’s degree in Physics in 1998 with First Rank and a Gold Medal. Dr. Murugendrappa received his PhD in Physics in 2006 from Gulbarga University. With over 22 years of teaching experience, he has made significant contributions to the field of conducting polymer composites, publishing 59 refereed journal articles and 42 conference proceedings. He has guided four PhD students and is one of the principal investigators of the Center of Excellence in Advanced Materials with research grants exceeding ₹700 lakhs.

Dr. Murugendrappa M V completed his Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Physics from Gulbarga University in 1996, securing the highest marks in the entire college. His exceptional performance earned him an endorsement prize for academic excellence. He pursued his Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Physics at Gulbarga University, graduating in 1998 with First Rank and a prestigious Gold Medal. Continuing his academic journey, he obtained an M.Phil. in Physics in 1999, once again achieving top marks in the department. Driven by his passion for research, Dr. Murugendrappa earned his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Physics from Gulbarga University in 2006, focusing on advanced studies in conducting polymer composites. His academic achievements and dedication laid a strong foundation for his distinguished career in teaching and research.

💼 Experience

Dr. Murugendrappa M V has held various prestigious administrative and academic roles throughout his career. He has served as the Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Physics at BMS College of Engineering, Bengaluru, for 6 years and 7 months, where he played a pivotal role in the department's growth and academic development. In addition, he contributed to the institution as the Deputy Controller of Examinations for 1 year and 9 months, overseeing the examination processes. As the Chief Coordinator for Semester End Examinations for programs such as BE, B.Arch, MBA, and MCA in the autonomous stream, he successfully coordinated 04 exams and managed essential tasks, such as question paper typing and proofreading.

As an Organizing Chair, he has successfully led 15 Faculty Development Programs (FDPs) and an International Conference at BMSCE, promoting knowledge sharing and academic excellence. His comprehensive experience has significantly contributed to the academic and administrative advancements at BMSCE.
