Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mauro Maniscalco is a distinguished physician-scientist and academic leader specializing in respiratory diseases, pulmonary rehabilitation, and airway inflammation. He serves as Scientific Director at ICS Maugeri SpA SB IRCCS – Telese Terme Scientific Institute, Italy, and Associate Professor of Respiratory Diseases at the University of Naples Federico II. Holding an MD, dual Postgraduate Specialisations in Respiratory and Occupational Medicine, and a PhD in Pharmacology and Physiology from the Karolinska Institute (Sweden), Dr. Maniscalco has combined clinical excellence with translational research across academia, healthcare, and military medicine. His research focuses on COPD, asthma, airway inflammation, and pharmacological innovation, leading several national and international funded projects, including studies on benralizumab, mepolizumab, and smart health systems. He has coordinated multiple clinical trials and research networks and contributed to patented innovations in diagnostic methods. With over 210 peer-reviewed publications, more than 8,000 citations, and an h-index of 47, his work is widely recognized in respiratory medicine. He holds key editorial positions in leading journals such as Frontiers in Pharmacology, Scientific Reports, Respiratory Medicine, and Monaldi Archives for Chest Diseases. A Fellow of the European Respiratory Society (FERS), Dr. Maniscalco has been an invited speaker and moderator at prestigious international congresses, including ERS meetings and AIPO national courses.
