Assoc. Prof. Dr. Goncalo Castro Henriques is a Full-time Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (FAU-UFRJ) and coordinator of the Laboratory of Models and Digital Fabrication (LAMO-Prourb). He is a European Doctor trained across institutions including University of Lisbon Faculty of Architecture and Universitat Internacional de Catalunya School of Architecture, and an Architect educated at Escola Superior Artística do Porto. He is a member and former vice-President of the Iberoamerican Society of Digital Graphics. His research focuses on integrating generative systems analogue, algorithmic, and responsive with simulation, digital manufacturing, and robotics (CAAD-CAE-CAM). He actively promotes interdisciplinary exchange between academia, research, and industry through collaborative networks. He has designed, built, and taught across multiple countries and institutions. His work spans architecture, computation, digital fabrication, robotics, and artificial intelligence. He has published books and contributed to international journals including ELSEVIER and MDPI. He worked as a Site Engineer at ABDULLAH.M SARHAN & Sons Contracting in Jazan, Saudi Arabia (May 2017 – August 2018), where he oversaw highway construction projects, ensuring compliance with design specifications and project timelines. Prior to that, he served as a Structural Engineer at Anwar Alawi Consulting Engineers in Amman, Jordan (April 2016 – April 2017), developing structural designs, conducting load calculations, and collaborating with architects on material selection. He also gained hands-on experience as a Site Civil Engineer at Engineering Universe for Building & Construction in Amman, Jordan (August 2015 – November 2015), managing on-site civil works while ensuring adherence to plans, quality standards, and safety regulations.
