Prof. Jingjing Jiang is a distinguished scholar and researcher serving as a Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Deputy Director of the Department of Environmental Engineering at Jilin University, China. She obtained both her Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Jilin University, where she has built a notable academic and research career dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability through cutting-edge wastewater treatment technologies. As a Tang Aoqing Young Scholar and recognized Young Growth Science and Technology Talent of Jilin Province, Prof. Jiang represents a new generation of scientific leadership committed to integrating innovation with environmental protection. Her primary research focus centers on transmembrane ion transport for wastewater treatment, addressing complex challenges related to pollution control, resource recovery, and sustainable water management. Over the years, she has successfully completed or is currently leading 15 major research projects, including prestigious grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. Prof. Dr. Lourdes M. Orejuela-Escobar is an accomplished and dynamic scholar recognized for her pioneering contributions to biomass valorization, sustainable and circular bioeconomy, and the engineering of high-value-added bioproducts. She earned her Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science and Engineering from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, USA, where she also completed diplomas and master’s studies in Bio-based Materials and Macromolecular Science, alongside an MSc in Organic Chemistry Technology from Universitatea si Politehnic Bucuresti, Romania. Currently serving as Emeritus Professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), Ecuador, she has over two decades of teaching and research excellence, having co-directed the GICAS Research Laboratory and collaborated with numerous international institutions. Her professional engagements include consultancy roles with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), ECLAC-UN, and Geocircular Consulting Group, focusing on sustainable bioeconomy strategies and circular engineering initiatives. Dr. Orejuela-Escobar has led and participated in over 25 major research projects across Latin America, Europe, and Asia, supported by prominent funding bodies such as SENESCYT, CEDIA, ARES Belgium, and UNDP. Her research encompasses green synthesis of nanomaterials, biomass-based energy-efficient materials, microalgae biorefineries, and sustainable bioethanol production from agro-industrial waste. She has spearheaded projects integrating artificial intelligence in biomass valorization and developed innovative solutions for environmental remediation, water disinfection, and sustainable packaging, with several patents registered for her novel biotechnological processes. As co-director and principal investigator, she has strengthened multidisciplinary collaborations with universities in Belgium, Japan, Venezuela, and the United States, among others. Her work has been featured in high-impact journals such as Sustainability and Journal of Bioresources and Bioproducts, contributing significantly to applied bioengineering and environmental science. With over 60 scientific publications, numerous book chapters, and conference presentations, her research has achieved more than 900 citations and an h-index of 17 (Google Scholar), underscoring her international influence. Chawki Lahoud earned his PhD in Electrical and Energy Engineering from Saint Joseph University (ESIB), Lebanon, in 2020. He also completed a Research Master's 2 in Renewable Energies in 2016, jointly from ESIB, USJ, and the Doctoral School of the Lebanese University, Lebanon. Prior to these advanced degrees, he obtained a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from the Lebanese University, Faculty of Engineering 2, Roumieh, Lebanon, in 2012. These educational milestones have formed the foundation for his expertise in energy systems, renewable energies, and mechanical engineering.

🧑‍🏫 Teaching Experience

Chawki Lahoud has a diverse teaching background, starting in 2016. Currently, he serves as an Assistant Professor at the University of Balamand, where he teaches courses such as Fluid Mechanics, Internal Combustion Engines, and Mechanical Design 2. Prior to this, from 2020 to 2023, he was a Lecturer at the Lebanese University, instructing subjects including Algebra, Energy Transportation, and Electric Machines. Chawki Lahoud has extensive experience in the renewable energy and engineering sectors. Since 2024, he has been providing expert consultancy in renewable energy systems at the Al Shouf Cedars and Jabal Moussa Biosphere Reserve in Lebanon. In addition, he has been the Managing Partner at CLEngineering S.A.L. since 2014, overseeing several renewable energy projects in Lebanon. Prior to these roles, he worked as a Project Manager at Beavers Engineering S.A.L. from 2015 to 2017, where he managed a coffee factory construction project. Earlier, from 2012 to 2014, he served as a Project Engineer at Khater Engineering and Trading S.A.L., where he worked on HVAC and plumbing systems for various construction projects. This combination of roles has equipped him with significant expertise in both renewable energy and engineering project management.
