He holds a degree in Sports from the University of São Paulo (1999), a Professional Master’s in High-Performance Sports from Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (2009), and both a Master’s (2010) and PhD (2014) in High-Performance Sports from Universidad Pablo de Olavide, Spain, where his research focused on the effects of training load sequencing on strength, speed, and muscle power. Loturco currently serves as Director of Sport Science & Research Leader at the Núcleo de Alto Rendimento Esportivo de São Paulo (NAR-SP), coordinating postgraduate programs in training methodology and supervising research on training periodization, performance monitoring, and neuromuscular development. He is also a professor and advisor at the Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP) and a visiting professor at the University of South Wales, contributing to both national and international sports science research. Over his career, he has worked with elite athletes and professional teams including Clube Atlético Mineiro, Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras, and Sport Club Corinthians Paulista, as well as national organizations such as the Brazilian Football Confederation and Brazilian Karate Confederation. His current research investigates strategies to enhance athletic performance, including weighted vest training, seasonal performance variation, and injury prevention. Recognized internationally for his contributions, Loturco has received awards such as the 2019 SCS Investigator Award and honors for his work in adaptive sports and high-performance athlete development, solidifying his position as a leading authority in strength and conditioning science.
